13Gird yourselves and lament, O priests; howl, ministers of the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, ministers of my God, for the grain offering and libation are withheld from the house of your God.14Sanctify a fast, proclaim an assembly, gather the elders, all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.15Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD is near, and it comes like destruction from Shaddai.16Has not joy and exultation been eaten up and cut off from the house of our God before our eyes?17The clods have withered under their hoes; the treasuries have been desolated; they have been pulled down from the storehouses, for the grain has shamed.18How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle weep because there is no pasture for them; the herds of sheep are guilty too.19To you, LORD, I cry out, for fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and a flame has scorched all the trees of the field.20Even the beasts of the field long for you, for the channels of water have dried up, and fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
